Science Week 2022

For science week, we continued with our theme of festivals of light and made some lava lamps! 🌋
We also tried to see how plants take in water through their stems. We used water with food colouring and wow look the white petals changed colours! 🌸🌼

The Rainforest - October Theme

All our learning this month is going to be centred around the theme of the Rainforest, We have been learning about where they are, who/what live there, how to find them on a map, then completing different literacy and STEAM challenges :)

Science Central

We made some (green) rain clouds! When rain clouds get too full they burst! ☔️☔️☔️

Enjoying reading The World’s Worst Teachers by David Walliams in the sensory room. (This book is no way a reflection of Scoil Aonghusa Junior!!)

Super scientists exploring the local area and looking for different materials around the school ground.

Dot day!!

Dot day! A day about being creative! Make a mark and see where it takes you! Lots of creative dots from all the second class children! We joined up with Ms. Connell and Mr. Butler

Enjoying PE. We are working on throwing! Hopefully we can add videos to the website soon! ⚽️🥎🏈🎾

School is awesome! We made self portraits to look like Lego mini figures!

🕵️‍♀️🕵️‍♀️
Continuing with our theme of Myself and the Locality, in science, we took our finger prints and inspected them using a magnifying glass! 🔍 did you know that everyone’s finger print is different and there are 3 patterns found on finger prints :)

Is Aoibhinn linn an Gaeilge! Spot some children in hi-vis vests, (also known as our Gaeilge experts!!) they are roaming the classroom asking ‘Cén dath atá ar do ghruaig?💇‍♀️‘ agus ‘Cén dath atá ar do shúile? 👀’ maith thú!!

A cartographer is a person who makes maps. We have been doing lots of exploring of maps of the classroom, school and Tallaght! 🗺🗺

A trip to Castle Tymon Library

Learning some new Tricky Words as Gaeilge 🇮🇪🇮🇪

Enjoying some maths games on our first day!
