Welcome to our page!

We're delighted to show you a glimpse of all the exciting things we get up to in our class! We love all things Aistear, P.E and Art in Senior Infants and we're always working hard to get better at those tricky tricky words and sounds! We hope you enjoy our adventures in learning.

Very important visitors!

We had some very important visitors in with us this week! Ms Reilly kindly invited them in to see us. All together we had a Chinchilla, a Hare, an Owl, a Meerkat, two Lizards and two Snakes. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were lucky enough to get to pet and hold some of the animals! We learned lots of different facts about where the animals live, what they like and don't like and how they protect themselves in the wild. Have a look at the pictures below to see how much we enjoyed it!

Thank you!

We asked for help this year to make shoeboxes for those who dont have much this Christmas. In total we created 98 shoeboxes for boys and girls around the world. Thank you to all the parents and gaurdians for their help. An absolutely super achievement.

Happy halloween

The children in our class love Halloween. To celebrate we made chocolate apples, we made friendly ghosts and we dressed up on the last school day before the mid term break. It was so much fun!

Houses and homes

Maths weeks 2019

Maths week is all about taking time to notice maths in every day life! When you look you around there is so much to appreciate, numbers, shapes, length etc. With this in mind we went on a number trail around the school. We realised there are numbers in places we walk past every day. Have a look at the slideshow to see us busy at work.

Tall, taller and tallest!

Autumn

We have been learning all about Autumn over the last two weeks in aistear. We learned about hibernation, migration and trees in autumn. We contructed hibernation huts for animals using blocks and we created pictures with leaf rubbings. Next we're moving onto houses and homes in Aistear.

Lessons from elmer

We read all about Elmer. We loved the story and loved what Elmer taught us. He learned that what makes him different from all the other elepbants is what makes him special! We talked about what makes us special and unique. We then got a chance to decorate our own Elmer with paint. We used cotton buds so it was tricky but all the children took their time and results were fabulous! Take a look at us in action:

The principal's award

We are very proud of our classmate because he won the very first principal's award of this year! Every week I nominate a child from my class for Ms. Blake's award. I nominated this buachaill because since we began in September he has been trying his very best. With all his practising of his tricky words he knows every one of them. Thats also why he has won champion of the tricky words twice! As you can see from the picture he was delighted to wear the all important badge. Keep up the super work!

A super start to seniors

We've started off senior infants by popping back over our learning from senior infants! After plenty of time off durinf summer we headed straight into hard work. Before we start learning new sounds we had to make sure we're super at the old ones. Have a look below and some excellent work.

Fresh new bunch!
