seachtain na gaeilge

The children played games as gaeilge and completed a 'tráth na gceist' (table quiz). 

Gaeilge prepositions

Pizza party- procedural writing

The children have been writing procedural texts, such as recipes or instructions. The children wrote a recipe on how to make pizza and then used this recipe to make their own pizzas. 
How to Make Pizza
Ingredients: wraps, tomato sauce, spoons, grated cheese, grease proof paper, knives.
Steps: 
  1. Place a wrap on the grease proof paper.
  2. Using a spoon, put tomato sauce on your wrap and spread it around the wrap.
  3. Sprinkle cheese on top of the tomato sauce.
  4. Add toppings of your choosing.
  5. Place your pizza in the oven for 3 minutes.
  6. Take your pizza out and cut it into slices.
  7. Eat your pizza!!

Building bridges

Second class have been work on their comprehension strategies, which help them understand stories as they read them. The comprehension strategies which we have been working on are; predicting, connecting, visualisation, inferring and questioning

iPads

The children have been using the iPads to play literacy and maths games. They have also been using the iPads to research Fair Trade and how chocolate is made, as part of our Green Schools work. 

2D Shapes

The children went on a 2D shapes maths trail. The found lots of shapes around the school, such as circles, squares, rectangles, triangles, and hexagons.

Nativity Play

The children put on a wonderful performance of the Nativity play just before Christmas.

Maths week 

This week we went on a Maths Trail around our school. We saw different shapes, counted cars, and estimated distances. 
Maths Morning
On Friday morning, we had Maths stations. The children spent time in each station playing different Maths games. 

Science Week 

We made lava lamps! We used Alka-Seltzer to create bubbles of Carbon Dioxide which caused the coloured water to move up and down through the oil.
