This year for Science week, we completed the Skittles experiment. Here is how we carried out this experiment in our classroom:
Materials needed: - 1 share bag of Skittles - A plate for each table group - Water
Method: 1) Place your Skittles around the edge of the plate. Make and record your prediction. 2) Add water to the plate, ensuring all Skittles are sitting in the water. 3) Wait for around 30 seconds to see the result. Record the results.
Observations: We observed that the colouring/coating used in the Skittle shells dissolved and it formed a rainbow on each of the plates. Have a look at some of the photos when we completed the experiment - we had lots of fun!
This week we celebrated Maths week in Scoil Aonghusa Junior. Each class took part in lots of fun maths activities each day, such as maths trails, maths games, maths for fun afternoon and guess the number of sweets in the jar challenge. The school was buzzing with excitement about numbers, patterns, shapes, colours and all things mathematics! You can tell by all the smiling faces that we LOVE maths here at Scoil Aonghusa Junior.
